Dr. Joan Birbe, founder of Clínica Birbe in Barcelona, will participate as a speaker at the IV National Congress of the Spanish Society of Facial Plastic Surgery (SECPF), which will be held from November 13 to 15 at the Automobile and Fashion Museum in Málaga. The event will bring together renowned specialists who will share knowledge, techniques, and experiences acquired throughout their professional careers.
Under the concept “Kintsugi Effect,” the event proposes a different perspective on surgical practice. The inspiration comes from Kintsugi, a Japanese tradition that consists of repairing broken ceramic pieces using gold and highlighting their cracks instead of hiding them. Applied to maxillofacial surgery, this concept values the learning that arises from the difficulties, mistakes, and imperfections encountered during professional practice.
Dr. Joan Birbe: experience, technique, and shared learning
Dr. Joan Birbe, the only Spanish maxillofacial surgeon Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 2001, will be part of the group of specialists invited to this edition of the congress. In total, nine experts will contribute different perspectives and share the knowledge that can make a difference in surgical practice.
Dr. Birbe’s presentation will be on Saturday, November 14, at 3:30 p.m., under the title “The Invisible Incision: Kintsugi Effect and Tips & Tricks in Facial Lifting.” In this session, he will share his learnings related to making incisions in facial lifting, with special attention to those technical aspects that can help achieve natural and harmonious results.
In addition, he will serve as moderator at several panel discussions, thereby contributing to the exchange of knowledge and debate.
Dialogue among professionals
The philosophy of Kintsugi connects especially well with a discipline in which technical precision and experience play a fundamental role. In maxillofacial surgery, each case presents its own challenges and not everything always responds exactly as planned. Analyzing difficulties, learning from them, and perfecting procedures is part of the evolution of any specialist.
At Clínica Birbe, this way of understanding surgery is closely related to a vision based on experience, precision, and the pursuit of results that respect the identity of each patient. Facial surgery consists not only of modifying certain features, but of achieving a balanced, natural result that is consistent with each person’s individual characteristics.
The IV National Congress of the SECPF aims precisely to create a space to share that practical knowledge. Each speaker will have presentations of approximately ten minutes to present an idea, a technique, or an experience that may be useful to other professionals. The goal is not only to teach, but also to generate a dialogue among specialists and learn from different ways of approaching surgery.
A meeting to move forward
Harmony, naturalness, and respect for the patient’s identity are some of the principles that should guide facial and maxillofacial surgery. For this reason, professional meetings like this one make it possible to pool different perspectives and reflect on how to continue improving both techniques and results.
Dr. Joan Birbe’s participation will make it possible to share part of his experience in the field of facial lifting and, at the same time, be part of the conversations that will take place during the congress’s different panel discussions. His presentation on the “invisible incision” is thus integrated into a proposal that focuses on the small technical details that can make a difference in the final result.
Over three days, Málaga will be the meeting point for specialists who will exchange knowledge and experiences from different approaches. The common purpose will be to continue moving toward increasingly precise, natural facial surgery adapted to each patient.
For Clínica Birbe, Dr. Joan Birbe’s participation in the IV National Congress of the SECPF represents an opportunity to continue learning from other professionals and to share knowledge that contributes to continuing to advance in increasingly precise and safe surgery.
