What is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that corrects the bags that can appear on the eyelids; these bags may result from muscle relaxation, and as the years go by, the skin loses its elasticity, which causes them. It is a procedure to rejuvenate the eyes.

Women and men aged 40 and older who have excess skin or fat on their eyelids but retain good facial structure. They tend to be active people, which is why it bothers them immensely to wake up in the morning looking tired—a look that in no way reflects their cheerful disposition.
Types of Blepharoplasty
The surgery is usually performed via a transconjunctival approach, which means an incision of approximately one centimeter is made on the inside of the eyelid—without cutting the skin—to gain direct access to the fat pockets. Next, the three compartments are identified, and the bags are dried one by one, in the appropriate amount. Once these accumulations have been removed, the procedure is completed by placing a small stitch in the conjunctiva or leaving it unsutured, depending on the surgeon’s preference, since it is an area that heals very easily. Another technique is the transposition of fat pads. In other words, we apply them to the under-eye area, blending the line between the eyelid and the cheek to smooth out the crease that defines the dark circles.
Upper Blepharoplasty
The excess skin is marked on the skin, and incisions are made along the edge of the natural crease of the upper eyelid, where the scar will be hidden. Next, the excess skin is removed, along with a thin strip of orbicularis muscle, in order to locate the fat pockets and excise the necessary amount. The skin is carefully closed by placing a few small internal stitches that will maintain tension. Finally, thin strips are applied to protect the scar until the stitches are removed, usually between four and seven days after the procedure.
Surgical Steps
