It depends on the type of implant. Silicone prostheses are easy to remove. PEEK implants can also be removed, although their custom design and micro-screw fixation make removal very rare. Other materials, such as Medpor or porous polyethylene, may be more difficult to remove if they have been implanted for a long time.
