When we mention lower eyelid blepharoplasty, we are referring to surgery that is carried out transconjunctivally, an incision that is made approximately one centimeter inside the eyelid, without having to cut the skin. How long does a lower eyelid blepharoplasty take?
This procedure is performed in an operating theater, under local anesthesia or sedation, depending on the patient's profile. It usually lasts approximately an hour and a half if the patient has to have both upper and lower eyelids treated, half an hour for the upper eyelids and about 45 minutes for the lower eyelids.
What is the postoperative period for a lower eyelid blepharoplasty?
This operation is minimally invasive, so recovery is much quicker. The patient does not frequently experience pain after the operation, although discomfort, dry eyes or bruising may occur.It is not possible to establish exact postoperative days, as this tends to vary depending on the patient and the type of treatment carried out. However, as mentioned above, recovery is fairly quick and can last a few weeks.During the postoperative period, no sporting activity is required, although physical exercise can be resumed after two weeks if indicated by our specialists.Usually, after this surgery, 90% of patients can return to normality within a week, although, as we have said, recovery will depend on different parameters of the eyelids, as each one evolves differently.
