As we are specialists in Implantology, Birbe’s Clinic wants to offer you more information about implants when there’s little bone.
Even though there’s not enough bone, an implant can be placed to prepare it correctly for the future placement of the dental implant.
For those patients who don’t have enough height or width of the maxillar bone, some bone grafts of that same patient or a bone bank, grafts with synthetic or biological materials can be placed.
What you need to know about dental implants
The implants do not suffer allergy or rejection, however, what might happen is that the direct structural and functional connection between the alive bone and the surface of the implant subjected to a functional charge isn’t achieved, as well, some problems that depend on the patient might pop up (diseases, smoking or bad hygiene).
Implants can be placed fron 18 years old, which is when the maxillar and mandibular bone has finished its bone growth period.
The professional that places the implants should valorate the need of periodontal, prosthetic, rehabilitation, orthodontic and occlusal treatment.
The placement of the implants is always done with local anesthesia or with intravenous sedation, once the implant is placed, you must waits for the osseointegration and the placement of the teeth or definite crowns, during this period of time some provisional implants can be used.
Be careful with your mouth
The patient has to take care of his/her mouth in general, both teeth and implants, with an excellent oral hygiene, combined with periodic control and maintenance visits.
In Birbe’s Clinic we are a clinic with exclusive dedication to the maxillofacial surgery, implantology and oral rehab. We have a human team at the forefront of our speciality and some biotechnological facilities of last generation.
